Tips for using this guide

You don't need a lot of equipment to get started. Here are two simple ways to use this resource at home:

Try different tools: Sometimes a thin pencil can be hard for little hands to grip. Try using chunky crayons, felt-tip pens, or even a tray of salt or sand to trace the letters with a finger first. This makes the learning feel like play.
Say the sound aloud: As your child traces the letter, encourage them to say the sound it makes. For example, as they trace 's', they can make a 'ssss' sound. This helps the brain connect the physical movement with the sound of the letter.
